We are an organisation dedicated to help and work towards the people in need. We work for orphaned or abandoned children, or children whose families are in need. We give these children the opportunity to build lasting relationships within a family. Apne Log believes in giving a holistic environment to those in need, and this is based on four basic and fundamental requirement of a being, which we try to inculcate in our approach of building relationships with them; these are:
As an independent non-governmental social development organization:
We have challenged the traditional methods of orphan care with an innovative child care approach, where we help children first by being there as their family. Secondly by being sensitive yet mature about how to question, learn and take action for these children.
We believe in long lasting relationship, as one time help won’t sustain on its own. So we nurture long lasting relationships with our donors, our co-workers and the communities in which we are rooted. We believe that by making a long-term commitment we have a meaningful and sustainable impact.
We believe that any being has a tremendous potential within to bring about social change or impact someone’s life for good. So we invest in each other’s abilities as a team, our extended family or community (our network). We try and build an environment where we can approach our responsibilities with confidence. In an atmosphere of trust we are inspired to share our experiences and learn from each other.
Our greatest responsibility is in guaranteeing the well-being of children by ensuring high standards of care. In doing this we are committed to using all funds and resources wisely, with respect and accountability.
The wealth or programmes in India has not yet fully translated into healthcare, education or better nutrition for the poor. Apne Log India intends to make a genuine effort in bringing healthcare to the impoverished areas of India with the funds we generate, and also pioneering new ways of reaching communities to help treat malnutrition and prevent deaths.
Apne Log provided disaster relief to the thousands of families suffering from massive flooding, landslides and damage caused by monsoons in over 11,000 villages Of Assam, Bihar and West Bengal states that were submerged, forcing more than 1 million people to seek shelter.
We distributed hygiene supplies and household kits, and created child-friendly spaces to help protect children from harm and promote their well-being. We are still working to provide supplies like food, water and educational supplies to those in need. Although the floodwaters have receded, the damage and challenges that Indian children face will continue to be our priority – in times of crisis and every day.
We welcome those who care wants to make a difference, it is this simple. To become a volunteer with Apne Log India kindly get in touch with us (contact details are in ‘contact us’ section of this website).
